Aline Alexander Newman

Inspire your stu­dents! Book a school vis­it from children’s author and cer­ti­fied teacher Aline Alexan­der New­man. She loves speak­ing to kids (and adults), both in-per­son and by video­con­fer­enc­ing. Her pro­grams are engag­ing, var­ied, and inter­ac­tive. Pre­sen­ta­tions include: Does your Pet Have a Sto­ry; Ask, Look, and Lis­ten; Ani­mal Sci­en­tists; Ape Escapes; ‘N Char­ac­ter; Writ­ing Sto­ries from the World Around You; and Won­ders of the Galá­pa­gos.


Before writ­ing books, Aline pub­lished hun­dreds of sto­ries and arti­cles in news­pa­pers and mag­a­zines includ­ing, “Guide­posts,” “High­lights for Chil­dren,” and “Nation­al Geo­graph­ic Kids.” Nation­al Geo­graph­ic is also the pub­lish­er of all of Aline’s books to date, most of which focus on ani­mals. Among her awards are two YA Out­stand­ing Book Awards from the Amer­i­can Soci­ety of Jour­nal­ists and Authors, the Ani­mal Behav­ior Soci­ety Out­stand­ing Children’s Book Award, and being named to Amazon’s 2013 list of the Best Books for Chil­dren.

Aline is a grand­moth­er, ani­mal lover, and down­hill ski­er. She and her hus­band, Neil, divide their time between an old farm­house in north­ern New York and a sea­son­al camp in the beau­ti­ful Adiron­dack Moun­tains. Long-time pet own­ers, they most recent­ly adopt­ed an aban­doned dog they found run­ning scared on a coun­try road. His name is Moose.
